They opened with Entertainment and played Love Like a Sunset in which Thomas actually left the stage and gave way to the other musicians. And they even played a couple of old songs like Consolation Prizes ! The playlist was very well crafted so as to give a mellow break for the crowd and the band. They played the 90% of the latter and 60% of Bankrupt! So fans who weren't familiar with it weren't disappointed. I saw them when they were touring on their Bankrupt! album, which most fans and critics agree isn't nearly as good as Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. But not Phoenix ! They give soooo much energy in their live performance that you can't help but scream even louder than you thought you could as an acknowledgement. Some bands are terrible at festival settings but amazing when it's just them. ![]() I have seen Phoenix twice in concert, once at a festival (T in the park) and once at the Metropolis in Montreal. ![]() You're gotta love the French ! I don't know if they've always been as energetic as this or if it's the singer Thomas Mars' new marriage to director Sofia Coppola that's gotten him all revved up, but, to quote Icona Pop, I love it.
